Victor Evans, Executive Director of TennesseeCAN, issued the following statement today in response to Governor Bill Lee’s announcement of his appointed members to the statewide public charter school authorization panel:
“Over the past ten years, Tennessee’s leaders have implemented innovative education policies that have enabled more students to have access to a high-quality public education, and establishing this independent statewide charter school authorizer goes one step further by ensuring only high-quality public charter schools are authorized to educate children in our state. We applaud Governor Bill Lee for selecting such diverse and highly-qualified individuals to serve on this panel and put the best interest of students at the center of all charter school authorization decisions statewide.”
